OPP arrest five impaired drivers in five days

The Ontario Provincial Police are not impressed with how February has begun after arresting five people for impaired driving within five days.

Between February 2 and 7, police charged three people from Windsor and two from Lakeshore.

The incidents include a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 3, a vehicle search that turned up methamphetamine, and a 27-year-old Lakeshore woman who allegedly drove drunk from a store. An employee reported her.

A 63-year-old Windsor man has a scheduled court appearance after the crash last Thursday afternoon.

A 45-year-old Lakeshore man faces drug possession, impaired driving, and driving while prohibited charges after an officer pulled over a vehicle that didn't have the proper plates on Sunday. Police also charged a 38-year-old Leamington man riding "shotgun" for violating his probation.

In two incidents in Tecumseh, concerned citizens called the OPP to report their suspicions someone was drunk behind the wheel. That netted a 27-year-old Lakeshore woman and a 55-year-old Windsor man.

All five drivers have had their licenses suspended for 90 days while their vehicle sits in an impound yard for a week.
