Trillium Gift of Life Network recognizes Windsor Regional Hospital

For its continued efforts promoting organ and tissue donation, Windsor Regional Hospital is getting a couple of awards from the Trillium Gift of Life Network.

Right now, almost 1,400 Ontarians need a new organ to survive.

Windsor Regional Hospital had nine organ and 46 tissue donors during the pandemic.

Twenty-four organs went to patients in need.

It had a conversion rate of 64 per cent in 2021 and 2022, exceeding Ontario Health's target of 63 per cent.

As a result, the hospital won the Provincial Conversion Rate Award for the sixth time and its third Award of Excellence, which is for exceeding the provincial target for four or more consecutive years.

The hospital also received the Provincial Eligible Approach Rate Award for the first time. It goes to hospitals that facilitate a discussion between the network and at least 90 per cent of patients eligible to donate organs or tissue. Windsor Regional Hospital coordinated that interaction with 92 per cent of possible donors.
