Convoy expected in Windsor on anniversary of Ambassador Bridge blockade

A vehicle convoy is expected to move through Windsor Sunday afternoon, marking the one-year anniversary of the Ambassador Bridge Blockade.

Windsor police say they are monitoring the situation and are prepared to step in if necessary.

"We respect the demonstrators right to peaceful protest and will work to ensure they can exercise their civil rights in a way that is lawful and safe," Windsor police said in a statement via Twitter.

Police say they will provide updates as needed.

One year ago, a group of truckers held a days-long protest against vaccine mandates at Ambassador Bridge that blocked traffic at the border. As a result, the city of Windsor was placed under a state of emergency and police presence was heavy in the area for several weeks.
