WECHU issues final notices of out-of-date vaccines

If you still haven't updated your child's immunization records with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, consider it your final warning.

The health unit has sent out suspension notices to over 6,600 elementary students who have out-of-date vaccination records.

Families have until Thursday, March 16 at 6 p.m. to update those records, but if they don't, their child will be suspended from school for up to 20 days, starting Monday, March 20, 2023.

Once parents and guardians provide the missing immunization information to health officials, the student will be removed from the suspension list and can attend school again.

Immunizations can be administered by their primary health care provider or through catch-up clinics hosted by the health unit. The clinics are being offered at the health unit in Windsor and Leamington until the end of March.

Once a child receives their immunizations, parents can update their records online through the health unit's website.
