LaSalle police looking for suspected 'porch pirate'

The holiday season is behind us, but LaSalle police say porch thieves are still a problem.

Police are looking into two incidents that took place Sunday between 11 a.m. and noon. Each time, a package was stolen from a home in the Seven Lakes neighbourhood. Both happened within 30 minutes of delivery.

Surveillance cameras caught a dark-coloured 2007 to 2014 model Ford Edge on the road in front of each of the houses. A man wearing a baseball cap, dark-coloured jacket, and a red bandana across his face, was seen approaching the home, grabbing a package, then driving away.

Investigators have released an image of the suspect and the vehicle, and have asked the public to take a look.

Police suggest that if you are expecting a delivery and can't be home to claim it, you should consider having a trusted neighbour or relative pick up the parcel, or having it delivered to the local post office or nearest Amazon delivery hub.

Anyone with information on this suspect should call LaSalle police at (519) 969-5210, ext. 300. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
