Workers at a Lakeshore plant that makes seatbelts for several automakers have unionized.
Unifor Local 444 said workers at TRQSS reached out to the union several months ago, and after an organizing drive, employees voted yes.
The Local said, with just under 600 new members, it was one of the biggest organizing drives since the formation of Unifor.
The next step is to negotiate a contract with the employer.
Founded ini 1986, TRQSS operates a 189,000 sq. ft. facility on Patillo Road. It's one of the largest companies in North America that manufactures seatbelts for the auto industry.
