Toronto man arrested in drug trafficking investigation

A loaded firearm and over $100,000 in illicit drugs were seized after an arrest by the Windsor Police Service this week.

Through an investigation, the Drugs and Guns Enforcement Unit identified a suspect in a suspected drug trafficking operation.

On Monday, police tried to arrest the suspect on McKay Avenue. When he noticed the officers approaching, the suspect rushed to his vehicle and took off, allegedly hitting one of the officers with his car. The officer suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was later arrested on Mill Street. Officers seized a pistol, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and an unknown substance from the vehicle.

A 22-year-old Toronto resident has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a loaded firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, escaping lawful custody, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
