Canada wins the gold!

Team Canada survived to defeat Czechia 3-2 in overtime and win the gold medal at the World Junior hockey championship.

Going into the third, Canada had a 2-0 lead, but Czechia tied it up and the game went into overtime.

Dylan Guenther got his second goal of the game 6:22 into overtime to give Canada the final goal and the championship.

Shane Wright had the other goal for Canada.

Thomas Milic made 24 saves and Connor Bedard was named the tournament MVP.

Canada is the first team to win the gold medal in back-to-back tournaments after winning five straight gold medals between 2005 and 2009.

The Czechs beat Canada earlier in the tournament, 5-2 on Boxing Day.

Earlier, the USA won the bronze medal by beating the Swedes 8-7.
