Police identify suspect in fatal shooting

The Windsor Police Service has identified a suspect in connection to Monday afternoon's fatal shooting.

Malique Calloo, 26, of Windsor is wanted for first-degree murder.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, police were called to the area of Hanna Street East and Parent Avenue after a man had been shot several times.

The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police have not identified the victim at this time.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

A vehicle believed to be linked to the shooting, a brown, four-door Honda Civic sedan, was recovered Tuesday morning. Police were called to the area of  Bloomfield Road and Watkins Street at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday for a vehicle fire. Investigators believe it's the vehicle related to the homicide. Businesses & residents in the area are asked to check for surveillance in the area from about 7 - 7:30 a.m.

"A firearm was used in this homicide and has not been recovered. With that information, Mr. Calloo should be considered armed and dangerous. Anybody who observes Mr. Calloo is encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately," said Staff Sergeant Joe Faddoul.

Calloo is described as a Black man around 6' tall wearing a dark puffy jacket, light-coloured pants, and white shoes.

Police are asking anyone in the area of Hanna Street and Parent Avenue that may have seen or heard anything around 4:30 p.m. to call the Major Crimes Unit.

"Anybody with surveillance footage is asked to review it. If they believe that they've captured anything with the vehicle we released yesterday, they are asked to contact police. Any little bit of information could be useful in this matter," said Faddoul.
