Weapons, drugs seized following Windsor investigation

Windsor police have arrested two people after an investigation into drug trafficking led to a weapon seizure.

The Drugs and Guns Enforcement (DIGS) Unit began a probe last month after receiving a tip about possible drug activity at a home on Pine Street near Dougall Avenue.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search the house and did so on Tuesday, according to Constable Bianca Jackson. Officers from the DIGS Unit seized a Glock 43 9-mm handgun with ammunition, quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone and other drugs, as well as a bulletproof vest, digital scale, cell phones and over $3,000 in cash.

A 39-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman are each charged with five counts of fentanyl possession with intent to sell, possession of a loaded, regulated firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm without a licence, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of stolen property.

The man is also charged with possession of a prohibited device with no authority, three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition while prohibited, failure to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.

The investigation is ongoing. The charges have not been proven in court.
