Windsor Assembly cancels day shift for Wednesday

Employees at Stellantis' Windsor Assembly Plant are being asked not to come to work Wednesday.

Unifor Local 444, which represents hourly workers at the plant, announced via Twitter Tuesday afternoon that the automaker has cancelled the day shift at the plant. It was not immediately known if production will resume following the day shift.

Affected employees were notified via robocall.

The union has directed employees to take direction from their immediate supervisors, and anyone who did not receive a robocall is expected to report to work as usual Wednesday.

"Stellantis continues to work closely with our suppliers to mitigate the manufacturing impacts caused by the various supply chain issues facing our industry," said Stellantis Canada spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin in an email to WindsorNewsToday.ca. "As the situation continues to be very fluid, we are making production adjustments as necessary to minimize additional production impact."
