After putting the event on pause for the past two years, the Detroit Free Press Marathon returns on Sunday.
The half and full marathon start at 7 a.m. on Fort Street in downtown Detroit.
Organizers have altered the route. It will no longer take runners through Belle Isle. Instead, the course places greater emphasis on some of Detroit's signature neighbourhoods. The new finish line is on Woodward Avenue.

Once again, the course will take runners over the Ambassador Bridge into Canada and back into the U.S. through the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel.
That means some road closures.
Starting at 6 a.m., the Ambassador Bridge will close to traffic, reopening around 8:15 a.m. The Tunnel closes from 6:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Huron Church Road will close between the Ambassador Bridge and Riverside Drive starting at 6 a.m., along with Riverside Drive from Huron Church Road to Goyeau Street, Goyeau from Riverside to Park Street, and Park between Goyeau and Ouellette Avenue. Those roads will reopen around 10 a.m.
Runners will not have to worry about filling out the ArriveCAN app. The federal government discontinued the program earlier this month.
This is the 45th edition of the race. In addition to the cross-border marathon, the event includes a half-marathon, a U.S. side-only half-marathon, a one-mile race, and a 5K run.
The Meijer Kids Fun Run is on Saturday.
