Man in wheelchair killed in Windsor crash

Windsor police are investigating after a man was killed in a collision Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say it happened around 2:30 p.m. on Tecumseh Road East near Ford Boulevard. Few details were available, but police say an elderly man using a wheelchair was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle.

The man was rushed to a local hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Tecumseh Road East was closed completely between Rivard Avenue and Buckingham Drive for several hours while police cleaned up the area and looked for clues on how the crash happened. The road reopened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing and police say charges could be pending.
