What to do about Mettawas and Lakeside Beaches

A Kingsville Town Councillor wants to know what the town can do about ongoing poor water quality at Mettawas and Lakeside Beaches.

Laura Lucier will introduce a notice of motion at Monday night's council meeting calling for a new study to identify causes and potential solutions.

If councillors sign off on the study, it could also identify what the town can do to improve public access to Kingsville's waterfront and recreational uses.

She wants the report back in time for budget deliberations next year.

Lucier's motion also invites the Essex Region Conservation Authority to council so it can update councillors about their work to improve water quality.

Lakeside Beach is closed permanently, and swimming has been limited at Mettawas Beach this summer because of poor water quality.
