Citizen flags down Leamington OPP after watching man vandalize vehicle

A Windsor man faces charges after he was allegedly caught damaging a vehicle by a passerby who flagged police down to report the incident.

At around 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were on general patrol in the area of Russell and Fox Streets in Leamington when they were flagged down by a male citizen in a nearby public parking lot.

When police approached the man, he was standing next to another man sitting on the ground. The citizen told the officers that he watched the man throw a rock through the window of a vehicle in the lot.

The accused, a 35-year-old from Windsor, is charged with mischief - destroying or damaging property, and failing to comply with a probation order.

He is scheduled to appear in a Leamington court room at a later date.
