Windsor updates public viewing plans for Queen's Funeral

The City of Windsor has changed the time it will start its public viewing of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral to 5:45 a.m.

The public should bring a lawn chair to City Hall Square. The city partnered with Element Entertainment / NXT Level to show the service on a large screen outside.

Administrative offices at Windsor City Hall will be closed for the day to mark a day of mourning, but the lobby will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. so the public can sign a book of condolences.

Service Ontario offices, located at 400 City Hall Square, will be open on Monday, although the Service Canada office will shut down for the day.

Windsor-Essex Provincial Offences courts will run as scheduled, and court counter services will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The 311 Customer Contact Centre closes on Monday and reopens on Tuesday, but the 211 Call Centre will remain open.

Windsor public libraries will close on Monday, but municipal indoor pools and arenas will stay open.

Garbage and recycling pickup and Transit Windsor buses will not be impacted by the day of mourning and will go ahead as usual.
