Three teachers at Catholic School Board recognized for inspiring top students

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board recognized three teachers for inspiring some of its most accomplished graduates.

Carolann Zanet, Julia Berthiaume, and Mike Carosella are Loran Scholars Teachers Building Leaders Award recipients.

Two Loran Scholarship winners, Natalie Pallisco and Nick Harris, presented them with certificates Tuesday night.

Both graduated from St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic High School in 2018.

The four-year scholarship is worth $100,000 and goes to students who will attend university who show long-term leadership potential, strength of character, and a commitment to serving their community.

It is highly unusual for two students from the same school to be awarded the scholarship in the same year.

34 Canadian students were awarded Loran Scholarships in 2018.

Pallisco plans to attend Cambridge University later this month after graduating from her studies at Western University. Harris graduated from the University of Kings College in London and will attend Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar.
