Windsor Assembly to sit idle for another two weeks

Employees at Stellantis’ Windsor Assembly Plant will be asked to stay home again for much of the month of September.
Unifor Local 444, which represents hourly workers at the facility, announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon that production will halt for the weeks starting September 12 and September 19.

The plant has had periodic stoppages in production due to ongoing supply issues and a worldwide microchip shortage that has affected automakers.
Stellantis Canada spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin confirmed that the latest shutdown had to do with supply.
“Stellantis continues to work closely with our suppliers to mitigate the manufacturing impacts caused by the various supply chain issues facing our industry,” said Gosselin in an email to WindsorNewsToday.ca.
