Major changes are coming for Windsor's Lanspeary Park, and the City of Windsor is sharing a new concept plan with residents.
The city surveyed residents last March about what they would like to see in the 11.5-acre green space on Ottawa Street. Many of the ideas generated by the survey are in the new plan, including a hub for sports activities, a larger playground, and a community garden.

"For more than a century, this public community park has been the hub of countless community gatherings, including the annual Windsor Labour Day and Pride festivals, attracting thousands of participants each year," read a release from the city. "With the upcoming demolition and removal of the greenhouse in the northeast corner and council's decision to install a new outdoor pool, the city is looking at this as an opportunity to redevelop the park."
The city decommissioned the 104-year-old greenhouse in Lanspeary Park earlier this summer. A new, more spacious greenhouse is open in Jackson Park.
Council approved the decision to build the new pool in phases last month. In the first phase, a new outdoor pool and liner could be ready in time for next summer.
The city decided to keep the existing pool closed this season after a report said it wasn't possible in its current condition.
Future phases of the project could include a slide, beach entry, and shade structures.
The new survey also asks residents what they would like to see at the new pool.
The survey is open until 4:30 p.m. on September 12 and will inform the final concept plan.
