Annual Arts Fair returns to downtown Windsor

Local artists and fans of art are encouraged to attend the eighth annual Downtown Arts Fair in Windsor next month.

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) is looking for local vendors interested in displaying their work and getting some attention, to register for the event scheduled for Sunday, September 18.

"This high-energy and well-attended Arts Fair provides opportunities for artists, art lovers and collectors to engage with one another, and there will be a myriad of offerings and programming showcasing the wealth of artistic talent and skill right here in Windsor and Essex County," a release from the DWBIA read.

The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along University Avenue between Victoria Avenue and Freedom Way, and on Ouellette Avenue, between Chatham and Park Streets.

Artists will have to pay a $25 registration fee to obtain a spot, however the money will be fully refunded on the day of the event once the vendor sets up. All artistic merchandise, aside from food and drink is permitted.

In order to take part in the event, vendors must offer a participatory aspect to their space. For example a skill sharing component or a demo.

Activities will be required to follow the following criteria:

• Be free • Focus on health, physical activity, arts or culture • Be participatory • Be feasible • Be able to engage large  audiences • Be accessible for people of all ages and abilities • Pop-up in nature - quickly and easily set up and taken down • Self-contained - no need for a power supply etc. • Not involve alcohol, horses or inflatables (e.g. bouncing castle)

Space for the event is limited. Those interested must register by September 2. More information about the event and how to sign up can be found online.
