Police continue search for suspect in animal cruelty investigation

Windsor police continue to investigate a case of animal cruelty.

On July 29, the owner of a dog on Janette Avenue reported their dog missing to the Humane Society. The owner suspected their dog got out between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. last Friday morning. At around 4 p.m. the same day, the dog was found hiding under a tree on Caron Avenue. The animal was injured and taken to an animal hospital where it later died from its injuries.

Earlier this week, police released a photo of a man they believed may have been involved. They have now identified the person in the photo and determined the person was someone out looking for the missing dog.

Investigators continue to ask for the public's assistance with any surveillance or dashcam video that may be evidence in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
