Police look for evidence in animal cruelty investigation

The Windsor Police Service is investigating after a dog died from injuries sustained after going missing Friday.

The Janette Avenue dog owner reported their pet missing on Friday morning to the Humane Society. It's believed the dog went missing between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The dog was found Friday afternoon around 4 p.m. hiding under a tree on Caron Avenue. The dog was injured and taken to an animal hospital where it later died from its injuries.

The Humane Society reported the incident to the police Friday evening.

Major Crime Investigators are asking anyone with surveillance video in the area of Janette Avenue between Park Street and Wyandotte Street to check their footage from Friday morning for possible evidence. Anyone on Caron Avenue between Park and University Avenue is asked to check their footage between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
