U of W to team up with Rocket Innovation Studio

Windsor-Essex leadership candidates will have a chance to get industry guidance from a local IT firm.

The university announced Monday that it is teaming up with Rocket Innovation Studio as an industry project partner for the Applied Leadership discipline in the Continuing Education department, effective with the upcoming fall semester.

"We are delighted to be working with Rocket Innovation Studio as our industry project partner for the fall term," said U of W Continuing Education Executive Director Jennie Atkins in a media release. "The tech sector’s growth rate continues to thrive, and Rocket’s leadership in fintech and IT solutions makes them an ideal partner for the applied nature of this program. Real-case scenarios featured within the courses are sure to engage participants and challenge their approach to problem-solving."

The program will allow participants a hands-on approach to tackling challenges in the IT industry. Candidates will have a chance to network with industry professionals and craft their leadership potential. The program will culminate in an industry-based capstone project.

"We believe this will be a great opportunity to have a diverse group of industry professionals and introduce candidates to real-world scenarios that Rocket Innovation Studio faces as we serve an international client base," said Rocket Innovation Vice-President Jasen Sams. "This will expose candidates to the various techniques and practical experience that Rocket Innovation Studio leverages to approach these scenarios. Lastly, we hope this partnership will allow candidates to experience the Rocket Innovation Studio brand, culture, and values as a potential future employer in the city of Windsor."

The program will be presented online and is now open for fall registration. The eight half-day modules take place on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. between October 13 to December 1.

Complete information about the Applied Leadership program can be found on the University's official website.
