Canada Day is a statutory holiday, and that means many businesses and services will be either closed or on abbreviated hours on Friday.
All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed Friday. There will be no Canada Post delivery, and all financial institutions are also closed.
All ServiceOntario offices will be closed, though selected transactions may still be performed online.
Selected Beer Store outlets will be open on Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., including three in the City of Windsor and one in Leamington. All LCBO locations will be closed Friday with regular hours resuming Saturday. Supermarkets that carry beer and wine will either be closed or on shortened hours.
Windsor Public Library branches are closed Friday, along with all Essex County Library branches.
Devonshire Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tecumseh Mall is open from 11 a.m to 5 p.m, while Windsor Crossing in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The 311 call centre is closed on Canada Day, with hours resuming Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 call centre is open 24 hours and will be operating as usual.
In the City of Windsor, there will be no residential rubbish, yard waste, or recycling collection. These pickups will be delayed by one day. Night commercial, front-end loader, and weekly recycling pickups will go on as scheduled. Refer to your waste collection calendar for details.
The public trash and household chemical drop-off depot off Central Avenue is closed Friday, but will be open Saturday, with summer hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Community centres and arenas in Windsor are closed on Canada Day except for pre-booked rentals and scheduled events. The Atkinson, Central, Mic Mac, Remington Booster and Riverside Centennial outdoor pools will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for recreational swimming. The Lanspeary Lions pool is closed this summer due to mechanical problems.
The Lakeview Park Marina will operate Friday as usual.
Sandpoint Beach in east Windsor is open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., weather and water quality permitting. Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be closed Friday, but will reopen on Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
The H-4 program at Windsor Water World will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m for men and women experiencing homelessness.
There will be no parking enforcement in the city of Windsor on Canada Day, so all metered street parking is free. Lots and garages are still paid as usual. Parking payment offices will be closed Friday, but payment for traffic tickets may be made online.
Transit Windsor buses will operate on July 1 on an enhanced Sunday and holiday schedule. The customer service office at the Chatham Street West terminal is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the sales office on North Service Road is closed Thursday.
The Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House in Windsor will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will celebrate Canada Day with free admission and Canada Day-themed activities.
