Amherstburg appoints deputy CAO

Two weeks after elevating its Clerk and Director of Legislative Services to the position of CAO, the Town of Amherstburg has promoted another employee from within to be its new Deputy Chief Administrative Officer.

Melissa Osborne will continue her responsibilities as Director of Development Services in addition to her new role.

The Town said she has 20 years of experience as a municipal manager and extensive knowledge of budget planning, asset management, grant funding, information technology, and business process change.

"During her short time with the Town of Amherstburg, she has exceeded expectations in her role as Director of Development Services," said Mayor Aldo DiCarlo. "Her professionalism, knowledge, and business savvy have guided our investors in developing projects."

The announcement comes after the June 13 advancement of Valerie Critchley to CAO.

Critchley is the sixth person named CAO of Amherstburg, interim or permanent, since the sudden departure of John Miceli in August 2021.
