Concept plan approved for Lakeshore park

Improvements will soon be coming to a Lakeshore park after a concept plan was approved this week.

Lakeshore Council okayed a concept plan for upgrades to St. Clair Shores Park at its meeting Tuesday night.

"It’s great to see another park upgrade project moving forward this year. We know how important these incredible places are to our residents," said Mayor Tom Bain in a media release. "Like most communities facing significant increases in construction costs, we must strike a balance between what community members want and what we, as a municipality, are able to afford. While these new investments may not include everything that park users were hoping for, we will continue to work to meet their needs in creative and cost-effective ways."

The concept plan was drawn up following a period of public feedback.

Amenities for St. Clair Shores Park included in the plan are accessibility upgrades that include another park entrance, new asphalt trails, new playground equipment and improvements to play surfaces, a new pavilion or shelter, and green scaping.

The Municipality will now issue a request for proposals (RFP) for detailed plans for designing and building those upgrades. The proposals will be submitted to councillors with a final plan expected to be approved by the end of this year.

Complete information about the St. Clair Shores Park plan can be found on the Municipality's official website.
