Three Pride flag thefts investigated in Leamington

Ontario Provincial Police are looking into a series of incidents involving Pride flags flown outside several Leamington schools.

The OPP said the first theft took place in the late evening hours of Tuesday, May 31, outside Margaret D, Bennie Public School.

The next incident happened outside Leamington District High School at around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 2.

The third theft happened outside Queen Elizabeth School in the early-morning hours of Friday, June 3.

The OPP is asking the public for information on any of these incidents, such as descriptions of suspects or vehicles. Anyone with security camera footage is asked to check it and see if there is anything unusual.

Anyone with information should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

With June being celebrated as Pride Month, many municipalities and school buildings are flying rainbow flags as a show of solidarity with people in the LGBTQ+ communities.

Windsor police are also looking into the tampering of two Pride flags that had been flying outside Massey Secondary School.
