County residents asked to minimize daytime water usage

The Union Water Supply System is reminding Leamington and Kingsville residents about outdoor watering restrictions as upgrades to the Ruthven Water Treatment Plant drag on.

Part of the plant has been shut down since September 2021 to complete the work. It was scheduled to be completed by May but supply chain issues have extended the construction schedule for at least eight to ten weeks.

The plant will be operating at reduced capacity until at least mid to late August.

The UWSS is requesting residents and businesses minimize daytime water usage between peak hours of noon and 6 p.m.

The usual outdoor watering restrictions are still in place, including only watering your grass or garden on alternating days. All restrictions can be found here.

More stringent water restrictions could be implemented if the plant cannot keep up with water demands.
