The unofficial start of a Canadian summer will look as close to normal as it last did three years ago.
Victoria Day is a statutory holiday in Canada, the only British Commonwealth nation with a holiday honouring Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901 and was Queen at Canada's Confederation. Many businesses and institutions will be either closed or on reduced hours Monday.
All federal, provincial, and municipal offices and town halls are closed Monday. There will be no Canada Post delivery. Service Ontario offices will be closed, though some transactions can be done online.
The four public school boards serving Windsor-Essex will take Monday off, with classes resuming Tuesday.
Certain locations of The Beer Store will be open on Victoria Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The LCBO will also have selected outlets open on Monday.
All branches of the Windsor Public Library are closed Monday, and hours will switch to the summer schedule on Tuesday. The Essex County Library is also closed Victoria Day.
Devonshire Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tecumseh Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Many chain restaurants and big-box stores will be either closed or on reduced hours Victoria Day. Be sure to call ahead to avoid disappointment.
The 311 call centre will close Monday and reopen on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 311 services are available via the app. The 211 call centre is open 24 hours as usual.
There will be no garbage or recycling pickup in Windsor or Essex County. That will be delayed by a day in Windsor, and residents should check their Waste Collection Calendar for more information. Commercial garbage collection will take place as usual.
All City of Windsor arenas, community centres, and pools are closed Monday, with the exception of the advance polling stations at the WFCU Centre and the Gino and Liz Marcus Community Centre, in advance of the provincial election.

Transit Windsor buses will run on the Sunday and holiday schedule on Victoria Day. The Customer Service Office on Chatham Street West will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the sales office on North Service Road East is closed.
