Essex-Windsor EMS donates surplus medical supplies

Essex-Windsor EMS is donating surplus medical supplies to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

Supplies including stretchers, safety helmets, suction units, and medical bags, were loaded on a Global Medic truck Wednesday morning.

"We're hoping that this can be used for supporting the people of Ukraine," said Deputy Chief Chris Grant. "I'm looking forward to giving them the supplies they need."

Global Medic is a registered Canadian charity that provides aid in the wake of disasters and conflict. A volunteer with the company drove to Windsor and will return the truck filled with supplies back to Toronto.

In the last two years, the company has delivered donated food to Windsor-Essex foodbanks and sanitary wipes to agricultural workers.
