UPDATE: Windsor police investigate suspect package in Riverside

Windsor police say officers have completed an investigation into a possible suspicious package at a home on the east end.

Police were called shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday to a home on Janisse Drive between Wyandotte Street East and Ontario Street.

Constable Talya Natyshak told WindsorNewsToday.ca that as a precaution, the explosive disposal unit was dispatched to the scene, with officers from the Emergency Services Unit on hand. The situation was limited to one home on that block.

Drivers and pedestrians were asked to avoid the area for the time being.

It turned out that the package in question was a piece of mail left in the home's mailbox. After inspection, it was determined that there were no suspicious contents in the package.
