City seeks input on Wyandotte Street East corridor

Windsor residents and business owners are invited to two upcoming public meetings to talk about the future of a six-kilometre stretch of Wyandotte Street East.

Windsor city council asked the administration to review traffic patterns on Wyandotte Street East from Devonshire Road in Walkerville to Watson Street in Riverside. Staff were tasked with finding ways to improve cycling infrastructure on one of the city's busiest arterial roads.

So far, consultations have revealed a desire to improve on-street parking, add bike lanes, and reduce traffic volumes while maintaining the commuter corridor.

Now the city is going to the public for its thoughts.

The first public meeting is planned for Wednesday, May 11 at Riverside United Church on Glidden Avenue. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. and should wrap up at 7 p.m.

A second meeting is at the Windsor Bike Kitchen on Monmouth Road on May 18.

City staff will be at both meetings to answer questions and gather input on design alternatives and priorities for the route.
