Amherstburg grandmother wins $1-million

Alana Taylor was up at 6 a.m. and just getting ready for work when she checked her Lotto 6-49 ticket when she got the shock of her life.

The 64-year-old Amherstburg mother and grandmother opened the OLG App, compared the numbers, and realized she was a millionaire.

"I was barely awake and completely shocked!" she claimed.

It's not even the first time she has won.

In 2010, Taylor won $50,000, so she figured her chances of winning the big jackpot were pretty slim, even though her lottery numbers are deeply personal.

"I choose my own numbers, which are comprised of family birthdays," she said.

Taylor plans to go part-time at her job, share her winnings with family, and complete some home renovations.

She purchased her ticket at Lynn's Variety on Richmond Street in Amherstburg.
