Crowley named Windsor police's acting deputy chief

A Windsor Police Service veteran is stepping into the role of deputy chief, at least for the time being.

Superintendent Jason Crowley was appointed deputy chief of operations on Thursday by the Windsor Police Services Board. The position takes effect on Monday and is until further notice.

Crowley steps into the role that was left vacant when Jason Bellaire was appointed acting chief upon the retirement of Chief Pam Mizuno.

"Each day, I will make it my top priority to build public trust and confidence in the Windsor Police Service, work with colleagues on the executive leadership team, and continue to work alongside the dedicated WPS members who serve our community bravely," said Crowley in a media release.

Bellaire took the acting chief's role on April 1. The police services board has begun the search for a permanent chief, who may be named before the end of the year.
