After three long years, Hogs for Hospice will be back this summer in Leamington.
"We felt throughout this people needed something to look forward to, so this year, we're back in the saddle again," exclaimed board member Joe Oswald.
The three-day family event is planned for July 29 to July 31 and raises money for the Erie Shores Hospice.
It's raised $1.5-million so far.
One of the biggest draws to Hogs for Hospice is the concert series in Seacliffe Park, and Oswald said they've booked some big acts this year. Classic rock band, The Cult will take the stage Friday night, and on Saturday night, Nashville's Black Jack Billy opens for country music star Brent Young.
"You can imagine the amount of offers that they get across North America and even outside North America," said Oswald. "When these musical artists research our event, it kind of opens up their heart and they're going, 'Oh my gosh what a great event. What a great cause, 100 per cent we're in."
In addition to the motorcycle rally around Point Pelee National Park and the musical acts, there will be stunt shows, vendors, beer gardens, and Sunday's non-denominational church service drawing up to 2,000 worshippers.
The event has always been a significant economic driver in Leamington and Kingsville and comes when many businesses are just getting back on their feet after the pandemic.
"A lot of these businesses have gone through some struggles and trials and tribulations, and we are dedicated to supporting them," added Oswald. "When you look at the weekend, every hotel room in Leamington is sold out. Gas stations are full. Restaurants are full. Retail store environments are full."
