Windsor HVAC company celebrates centennial with donation

A Windsor heating and cooling company is celebrating its 100th birthday by raising money to make ill children happy.

Bryant Heating and Cooling Service Experts announced Monday that it is donating $75,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada, which grants wishes to children with critical illnesses.

Randall Barnes, regional marketing manager of Service Experts, which Bryant has been affiliated with since 1998, said it is another example of a local company giving back to the community.

"Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada does such meaningful work to support children diagnosed with critical illnesses, and we’re honoured to support that work with this gift in celebration of the Bryant center's centennial milestone," said Barnes.

This is the fifth year Service Experts has been a contributor to Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada, with over $1-million donated and over a hundred wishes granted.

"Their support will help us continue our mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, many of whom view the wish as a pivotal moment in their healing journey and a much-needed source of hope and joy for their entire family," said Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada CEO Meaghan Stovel McKnight in a media release.

Bryant is a family-founded company that began in Windsor in 1921, starting by building automated stoking systems for coal-fed boilers. The company grew to become one of Windsor's biggest employers by the Second World War. After the war, the Bryant family sold the business to a long-time employee, who steered the company toward residential heating and air conditioning.
