Ontario Trillium Fund supports Windsor Pride Fest

The Ontario Trillium Foundation granted Windsor Essex Pride Fest over $80,000 to improve programs and services.

The funding will allow the organization to update technology, and purchase new equipment, program supplies and implement more online programming.

"Even before COVID there were already barriers with transportation. So someone who is in Leamington who doesn't have transportation, doesn't have a car, doesn't have a way to get to our to some of our programs that we do physically, they don't really have an opportunity," said David Lenz with Windsor Pride Fest. "Now with the virtual programs, there's the opportunity and there's some hybrids where it's physical with a teleconference aspect to it."

Lenz said they are also excited to bring back their annual Windsor Pride festival this August.

"This is actually our 30th anniversary, so we've got some new things that we're planning and some entertainment that we're trying to book," said Lenz. "It's going to be the full-blown festival with the parade, and the park and vendors ."

The festival will be held from August 3-7, 2022.
