People 30 and older in Ontario can now get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

In December, the Ontario Ministry of Health put in place recommendations to preserve available supply to those between the ages of 12 and 29. Now that supply has stabilized that recommendation has been lifted.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit said effectively immediately the vaccine will be available to all ages at all of the mass vaccination sites. Either mRNA vaccine will provide a high level of protection against COVID-19 and the Omicron variant.

All sites, including the Devonshire Mall, Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre and the HDGH site are now accepting walk-ins for first, second and third doses. Appointments can also be made through WEVax.ca.

To date, 80 per cent of eligible residents have been double vaccinated against COVID-19 while only around 49 per cent of people 18 and older have gotten their booster.
