Holiday festivals extended

Both LaSalle and Kingsville plan to extend their holiday lights festivals.

The Fantasy of Lights Celebration in Kingsville was expected to end earlier this week, but in light of the latest COVID-19 restrictions, the town is extending it until January 26.

"We could all use a little extra brightness in our lives right now," said Mayor Nelson Santos. "We hope people will see this as a good opportunity to spend more time enjoying the park with their family, get some much-needed exercise, and experience the mental health benefits associated with these activities."

The Kingsville Express train is closed, but the lights and decorations are still up in Lakeside Park.

LaSalle Holiday Lights Heritage Nights was scheduled to end on Sunday, but that will continue until January 23.

The lights are on daily at the LaSalle Civic Centre from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Those that go are encouraged to share their Holiday Light pictures on social media using the hashtag #LaSalleHolidayLights.

At both events, the public is asked to wear a mask and socially distance themselves from others. Outdoor groups are limited to just ten people.
