Well-being check leads to drug and gun charges

Three people are facing drug and gun-related charges after police were called to check on the well-being of a person sleeping in a vehicle Saturday morning.

Police responded to the area of Marentette Avenue and Vimy Avenue around 9:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a driver and two passengers inside a green pick-up truck.

None of the individuals needed medical attention. However, during the course of the investigation, police saw what looked like a firearm inside the vehicle. All three occupants were then arrested.

After searching the vehicle, police found some illicit drugs and a second firearm. Both seized weapons turned out to be pellet guns.

A 28-year-old from Windsor is now facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, crack cocaine, nabilone, methamphetamine and fentanyl, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

A 34-year-old and a 37-year-old are also facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, crack cocaine, nabilone, methamphetamine and fentanyl, and failing to comply with a release order.
