Del Duca calls for action in schools

As parents and educators anxiously wait for news on the return to school Liberal leader Steven Del Duca is once again calling on Doug Ford and the Conservatives to do more to protect students from COVID-19.

Del Duca said Ford has many ways to ensure a safe return to school including establishing a rapid testing program, ensuring every classroom has a HEPA filter, and shrinking class sizes.

"If you have to delay the reopening of schools, do it based on that best advice but in the time that you are given while those schools remain closed to in-person learning make the investment and show the leadership to make sure we don't end up here again," said Del Duca.

At the time of publication, no announcement from the government has been set.

Chief Medical Officer Kieran Moore is expected to speak at his weekly update on Thursday afternoon.

Ontario hit a new record Wednesday with 10,436 new cases reported. The province's positivity rate also soared to nearly 27 per cent.
