Health unit ready to open new COVID-19 vaccine clinic in West Windsor

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has announced the location of its third mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic in the region.

A new clinic will open at the Dr. Y Emara Centre for Healthy Aging and Mobility. It's at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare's campus on Prince Road.

The health unit said it would open on January 5.

Appointments will be available from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays and Fridays, they are open from noon to 4 p.m.

Walk-ins will not be permitted.

Booking for those appointments will open on Wednesday, December 29, at 8 a.m. Residents can make their appointments online at WEVax.ca or by calling the booking centre at 226-773-2200.

"We are happy and eager to help our partners with our local pandemic response," said HDGH President and CEO Janice Kaffer. "The added vaccine clinic on our west-end campus will help do just that."

Also on January 5, the health unit will reopen its mass vaccination clinic at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre in Leamington.

The mass vaccination clinic at the former Sears Store at Devonshire Mall remains open, and public health officials are working to increase the number of available appointments.

Residents can also get the vaccine at participating pharmacies, through participating primary healthcare providers, and at community pop-up vaccination clinics.

Even if you do not have a health card, you can get your shots by presenting another form of government-issued photo identification.
