Mass vaccination clinic in Leamington reopens in January

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit plans to reopen its mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre on January 5.

Earlier this week, CEO Nicole Dupuis said two new clinics would open, but the announcement on Wednesday makes it official the one in Leamington will reopen.

The public can start booking their appointments to get their vaccinations at the centre next Wednesday, December 29.

Appointments will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday through to Saturday for anyone who needs their first, second, or booster shot. Residents can book online or by calling 226-773-2200.

"We need everyone who is eligible to get their booster shot as soon as possible, and the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre is a great convenient place to do just that," said Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald.

Residents should cancel their appointment if they are sick or have been asked to self-isolate. If you do not have a health card, you can still get vaccinated by presenting another form of government-issued photo identification.

Walk-ins are not accepted at the Leamington clinic, but they are for anyone who needs a first or second dose at the existing mass vaccination clinic at the former Sears store at Devonshire Mall.

The health unit also plans to open a new clinic in West Windsor. So far, it hasn't said when that will open or where it will be located.

In partnership with the Community Response and Stabilization Team, the Town of Kingsville, and the health unit also plan to hold a series of vaccination clinics for temporary foreign workers. Details have already been shared with their employers.
