Spitfires captain makes World Juniors team

The Windsor Spitfires will have some representation on Canada's junior hockey team.

Will Cuylle has been placed on Team Canada's roster for the 2021-2022 World Junior Championships, starting later this month in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.

Cuylle has been a key part of the Windsor offence this season. After 22 games played, he had 18 goals and currently leads the Spits in that stat, along with seven assists for 25 points. He has also been aggressive against the net with 104 shots-on-goal. He currently holds a plus-9 rating and has spent 19 minutes in the penalty box.

The native of Toronto, who plays left wing and shoots left, was drafted by the Peterborough Petes in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection and traded to the Spits in August 2018. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Also making the Team Canada roster is goalie Brett Brochu. The Tilbury native is the lead goaltender for the London Knights, leading the OHL in wins, save percentage, and goals-against average (GAA).

The World Juniors run from December 26, 2021, to January 5, 2022. Team Canada settled for the silver medal after losing to the United States 2-0 in last year's final.
