Children's Aid Society appeals for Christmas donations

Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Foundation is still hoping to raise $30,000 before the holidays.

Each year the Children's Aid Society supports 800 families and youth living independently with gifts, food, and other essentials over the holidays.

Mike Clark with the CAS says all of the families who needed sponsors have been taken care of but there are still some needs to fill.

"The concern is as Christmas drawers nearer we have families and youth that will be coming to us that need support, need help, need a Christmas dinner, need a coat to wear that type of thing," said Clark. "We want to be assured that we will be able to help them."

Monetary donations can be made through the Children's Aid Foundation's website.

"At this point, it's getting late in the game, so monetary donations are definitely welcome. Our staff and volunteers can do the shopping and we also provide a number of gift cards for groceries and household items, personal items, that type of thing," said Clark.

Clark said they don't know how many youth or families will be in need of assistance at the last minute but they want to be sure they have everything they need for a good Christmas.
