Three young Windsor skaters qualify for national challenge

A trio of Windsor skaters are heading to Saskatchewan to compete in the annual Skate Canada Challenge.

The Riverside Skating Club announced that three of it's skaters, Julia Young, Katherine Karon and Jonathan Guo, have qualified for the competition being held from December 1-5 in Regina.

In the Junior Women's category at the 2022 Skate Ontario Sectional Championships, Karon took home bronze and Young finished 10th in the pre-novice women's group at during the event held from November 4-7 in Milton.

Karon is aiming to improve her 13th place finish from two years ago at the 2020 Skate Canada Challenge, while Young will face 46 skaters from across the country in the Pre-Novice Women Category. Guo, the third RSC skater to qualify for the challenge will be competing in the Junior Men's category.

The Skate Canada Challenge is the only opportunity for junior skaters to have a chance to advance to the 2022 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships being held in Ottawa from January 6-13, 2022.
