GTA man murdered at Windsor hotel

Windsor police are investigating the homicide of a 24-year-old man from the Greater Toronto Area.

Police were called to the Lexington Hotel on Division Road around 12:45 a.m. Sunday after there were reports of shots fired.

Officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries. Investigators identified the victim as a man from the GTA.

Police say a male suspect was seen running northbound on Byng Road and getting into a dark coloured SUV. The vehicle continued northbound down Byng.

The suspect is described as wearing dark clothing, a puffy hooded jacket and was carrying what appeared to be a white bag.

Investigators believe that this was a targeted incident, and there is no threat to public safety.

Major crime investigators are looking for any information that may assist them in this investigation. Anyone with surveillance video or dash cams in the area of Byng Road between Division and Moxlay Avenue is asked to check their footage for possible evidence. Police are particularly interested in footage between 12 a.m. and 12:45 a.m.
