Confirmed COVID-19 case sends three classes home from Windsor school

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed three classes of students and one bus cohort from St. Christopher Catholic Elementary School.

The school board was directed to make the dismissal by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. They were made aware of three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the afternoon of Saturday, November 27.

A voice message was sent to the entire school community to inform them of the situation.

Affected students have been advised not to attend school Monday. The health unit will notify those students when they can return to school.

"We have been working with the Health Unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected," a release from the WECDSB said.

Parents are advised to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning. Children should stay home and healthcare providers should be contacted for further direction if they are ill, or still waiting for results of a COVID-19 test.

A full list of confirmed cases and outbreaks can be found at the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board website.
