More classes and bus cohorts dismissed on Thursday

A total of five classes and two bus cohorts have been dismissed after five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at three local schools.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported two new cases at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in LaSalle. Two classes and a bus cohort were sent home on Thursday.

Another two classes and a bus cohort were dismissed on Thursday at St. William Catholic Elementary School in Emeryville after two cases were confirmed there.

There is one new case at W. J. Langlois Catholic Elementary in Windsor where one class was sent home.

Those schools remain open, but St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School are closed.

There are currently 22 active cases at the Catholic school board.

At the Greater Essex County District School Board, there's another five cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday.

The impacted schools are Belle River Public School, Essex District High School, W. F. Herman Academy - Elementary, Malden Central Public School, and Walkerville Collegiate Institute.

The public school board has had 186 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the school year.
