Limited Coats for Kids campaign this year

The Coats For Kids campaign has only a limited number of winter wear to distribute this year.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, organizers decided to hand out their current stock and are not accepting donations for this year's campaign.

"We didn't take any collections this year because of COVID protocols and having to use quite a few people to process them, so we just rewashed everything that we had in stock," said campaign Chair Russ Anderson.

Cintas donates its time and resources to wash all of the donated coats for the drive.

About 2,000 coats will be distributed throughout the city and the county. Distribution has already begun, but anyone in need can contact the UHC Hub of Opportunities.

Anderson is asking residents to hang on to any winter clothing donations because next year's campaign is going to have to be large to fill the gaps.

"Hopefully in the spring or early summer, we might be able to do a major drive because we are going to have to get a lot more stock next year to get the program running," said Anderson.

The organization is also accepting monetary donations to give out vouchers for coats if they cannot fulfil all orders.
